About Us

The ABSN was established in early 2014 following the first official solidarity visit by Australian unionists to Bangladesh following the Tazreen Fashions fire and Rana Plaza collapse.

We do not seek to replicate or replace the many valuable actions initiated by others. We hope to encourage participation in meaningful action by friends in Australia and Bangladesh, as well as develop real and lasting action based relationships between workers in each country.

We welcome all who wish to improve the working lives of Bangladeshi workers, who understand Australian working lives have become dependent on Bangladeshi poverty and who believe the freedom and emancipation of Bangladeshi workers requires a strong, worker led collective response by and amongst Bangladeshi workers.
